Pioneer Helmet (Wollaston / Northamptonshire Helmet) – Anglo-Saxon Boar-Crested Reconstruction
The Pioneer Helmet, also known as the Wollaston Helmet or Northamptonshire Helmet, is an Anglo-Saxon boar-crested helm dating to the late 7th century, during the Vendel / Migration Period (pre-Viking Age).
Discovered in 1997 during excavations in Northamptonshire, the helmet was part of the richly furnished burial of a high-status warrior, accompanied by a pattern-welded sword and a decorated hanging bowl. It stands as a rare and important example of early medieval craftsmanship and warrior elite culture.
This faithful reconstruction is lovingly hand-crafted in mild steel and is available in three reenactment-grade versions.
